Welcome! I am a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of California, Irvine. I hold an M.S.W. from Columbia University, a B.A. in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an A.A. from Fullerton Community College. I use qualitative methods to examine the experiences of immigrants living in the U.S. with an undocumented status and a deportation history, with a focus on gender and health. My independent and collaborative research has been published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Russell Sage Foundation Journal of Social Sciences, Berkeley Journal of Sociology, and Columbia Social Work Review. My work has been supported by the Russell Sage Foundation, Ford Foundation, Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP), Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS), John Randolph and Dora Haynes Foundation, University of California Alianza, and Crossing Latinidades Mellon Humanities, to name a few.
